Guest's Access to this forum
Here at LaserScanning.Org.Uk we are actively trying to encourage our guests to register as members and then hopefully contribute to this forum.
To try to achieve this we intend to restrict guest access for one full day over the next few weeks, therefore the only way to view the forum on that perticular day will be to register.
Another way we are encourgaing more guests to register is by stopping the guests searching the forum for posts which interest them so only members are allowed to search.
Also if you are a guest then you will see an advert after the first post of each topic but if you register then this annoying advert is then removed.
I think this forum does need guests to keep returning on a regular basis but if you are a guest and often drop by to veiw the interesting topics then please register and join in with the conversations.

Re: Guest's Access to this forum
I don't like it. If you need more members, restrictions and prohibitions is not a good idea. It will only frighten potential users, or maybe there just will be more dead members with 0 posts.
I see only one way: if we like our forum to be more popular, we should make it better, more interesting and more useful

Re: Guest's Access to this forum
Masimo,
Thank you for your feedback its much appreciated. We are trying to encourage more guests to contribute to the forum so it becomes a more interesting read as more people have an input rather than just reading the useful information.
I do think you have a valid point about members with zero posts though, as this seems very pointless to have members who do not contribute. However I do feel that more contributing members will be beneficial to us all. Also on a different note I dont want guests who regularly read this forum to feel that they have very little to contribute as they think any answer they have to an issue may be wrong or not worth posting. We are just trying to encourage a more balanced forum.
What do other members feel about this issue?

Re: Guest's Access to this forum
I think What Phil is saying is that we would like to see people actively participate in the site and share their experiences, rather than just using the forum only as a place for information. The more people that share what they are doing will ultimately benefit us all.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Re: Guest's Access to this forum
Hi,
I think is a bad idea.
I already sent to my bosses and some costumers emails with your web page directly to some topics to help me explain a subject, and with this option is impossible to do again.
Regards,
Delio Pontes

More members the better, as Phil says - for balance.
It's a bit too Leica for my liking.

Glad you put the winking smiley... we recommend this site to all our customers and recently included it in an e-flyer we try and send out quarterly to UK-based customers (Issue 2 is on its way).DanCutler wrote:More members the better, as Phil says - for balance.

One idea I had (laugh if you wish) was to have some kind of 'mission statement'... I know people are bound by rules on here already, but something cohesive and flexible which will help as the site, inevitably, grows...

Do you think we should encourage more potenial clients to the website, maybe a sepearte section which assist with any question and ansers they have in relation to laser scanning
